What are anodes? Why are they so important? What do they do?
Anodes are sacrificial metallic components that attach to the out drive or lower unit.
They absorb the electrolysis that is in the water and prevent it from corroding the drive/lower unit.
Replacing them every year, ideally in the Spring before your boat goes in the water,
will save thousands of dollars in costly repairs or a full replacement of the drive/lower unit.
